Nilla

~2 years old, in foster

Meet Nilla.

This sweet R/W girl was rescued from a rural shelter after being found as a stray. She was initially reported as being 6-8, but after a good bath, nail trim, and proper care, the vet estimates that she is probably closer to 2.

She is dog friendly; cats unknown. Her foster reports that she is the sweetest girl and is settling in well. She had a few accidents in the house the first couple of weeks, but is now house-trained. She definitely has some puppy/adolescent energy. She likes to chew, and initially chewed some pillows like a puppy, so her foster keeps several appropriate chew toys available for her. She comes when you call and does pretty well on the leash. She does like to chase squirrels but shows no signs of leash aggression towards other dogs. She gets along great with her foster brother Bear and loves to play, probably a bit more than what Bear would prefer! 😉

Her foster is working with her to teach her simple commands like “down”, “no”, “stop”, etc. We think that she was probably not treated very well at some point, especially given that she was found on the street. She gets easily frightened and startled by noises, but it seems to be getting better as she becomes more comfortable.
