August 2, 2026: Ozzy update!
This little corgi has a lot to say. Someone pulls into the driveway? She lets everyone know. Dinner is late? She is not shy about sharing her thoughts.
Ozzy has settled in really well with the resident dog in her foster home, and they have become great playmates. They chase, wrestle, and are still working out the finer points of sharing toys. The cats do not bother her, and neither do vacuums, drills, thunder, or fireworks.
Ozzy also loves bedtime. When her foster asks whether she is ready for bed, she walks right into her crate and lies down. She may complain for a minute if the other dogs go to bed without her, but she is usually asleep soon after.
Some things are still a little hard for Ozzy. She was scared of her collar at first, and she still sometimes flinches when a hand reaches toward her, even when it is gentle. Just a quick reminder that she has probably had some experiences we do not know about. She is making progress, though. Like with many corgis, nail trims used to be challenging but now she can sit calmly through several nails before deciding she is done. Good job, Ozzy!
She is currently on antibiotics and a new diet for a bladder issue, but she is staying happy and playful through all of it.
Ozzy is not quite ready for her next chapter yet, but she is getting closer every day.
Welcome Ozzy to SECR!
Meet Ozzy, a sweet corgi girl who just joined our rescue and is settling into her foster home. Her previous owner is heading off to college out of state and wasn’t able to bring her along or find anyone else who had the time for her, so she came to us looking for a new chapter.
Ozzy is spayed and current on vaccines and heartworm testing, and her first vet visit turned up no concerns. Ozzy is a herder at heart and still carries some of her puppy energy with her. She loves other dogs for the most part, though she can be a little unsure of male dogs at first, she just needs some time to warm up. And she can be dominant.
Ozzy could use a bit of work on her barking, though her foster says she’s not bad about it. Above all, she’s a people-loving, affectionate girl who is doing well with the other dog in her foster home. Ozzy does have a few quirks we’re gently working through, she’s not a fan of the collar and gets nervous with certain quick movements. Her foster is taking it slow and building trust, and Ozzy is responding well. Ozzy is not yet available for adoption while she settles in and finishes getting to know her foster family.
