Pixie

8 years old, in foster

November 2, 2022: Welcome Pixie!

It’s a new month, and we have a new addition to the SECR family! Please join us in giving a warm corgi welcome to Pixie!

Pixie is a recent shelter pull that comes to us with potentially critical medical issues. Previous veterinary treatment and x-rays show that she has knuckling damage on her rear legs and spine and severe joint deterioration on her hind legs and pelvis that may be a symptom of osteoarthritis, intervertebral disc disease, or degenerative myelopathy. For now Pixie is settling in to her new foster home with her corgi foster siblings and has more mobility than we expected, but does have difficulty with stairs.

We’ll be getting Pixie in to see our vet soon to evaluate her condition and make sure she gets the right pain medication. We’ll also be getting her started on joint supplements to help maintain her mobility and potentially lessen any of the stiffness she may be experiencing.

This, friends, is rescue. And, we’re glad we’re here to give Pixie and so many special needs dogs like her a better life. Welcome to SECR, sweet girl. We love you already!
