1-year-old corgi mix, adopted by foster
December 15, 2021: Congratulations, Zara!
When Zara joined the SECR family back in October, she was on a strict prescription of crate rest. She was a shelter pull with a fractured right pelvis and went straight from our vet to a special needs foster home where recovery was the top – and only – thing on her to-do list for six weeks. Zara didn’t like the confinement and, when she healed enough for her next medical procedure – a spay – she wasn’t a fan of the dreaded “cone of shame.” But, through every ordeal, Zara did love the opportunity to bond with her foster family and knowing she had people dedicated to getting her on track to live the good corgi life. Lucky for her she’s got that good life now, and the family that got her there will be living it with her forever.
We’re excited to announce today that Zara has officially been adopted by her fosters! Congratulations Zara and family. You deserve the very best, and we’re so very glad you have it!

August 17, 2021: Welcome Zara to SECR!
Just when you thought there couldn’t possibly be another rescue… surprise!
Say hello to Zara. This young corgi mix is a shelter pull, where she wound up on stray hold with a fractured right pelvis. Zara is with our vet for lab work and treatment now and will then be placed with a special needs foster. Luckily Zara won’t need surgery for her fracture, but she will need several weeks of recovery time in order to heal. She’ll be on a strict prescription of six weeks of rest with no playtime or physical activity, and a spay is in her future once she recovers and regains full mobility.
Welcome to the SECR family, Zara. We’re happy to have you and look forward to getting you on the road to recovery.
