December 6, 2023: Congratulations, Herbert!
Hip Hip, Hooray! Herbert’s got something important to say! He’s celebrating adoption today!
Herbert joined the SECR family in June on the hunt for a new family in which he could be the only dog. We found the perfect-for-him foster placement where he could be just that, got him caught up on routine veterinary care and treatment for allergies and hip sensitivity, and put Herbert on the road to a happier corgi life.
This cutie recently completed his trial adoption, and we’re excited to report he’s officially in his new forever home! Congratulations, Herbert. We wish you and your Dad many happy years together filled with adventure, playtime, and all the ball tossing your adorable little heart desires.
October 6, 2023: Adopt Herbert!
Herbert is a 6-year-old corgi who is looking for an experienced family in which he can be the only pet. He has a medium energy level but is playful and likes to stay active, bonds to his people, and is a smart, fast learner.
Herbert is a sweet boy with lifelong anxiety issues. He needs an active family that is experienced with herding dog behaviors and willing to work on resource guarding, direct his energy in a positive way, and keep up with daily medication. His anxiety causes Herbert to be reactive towards other animals so he needs a home without other pets or children.
Herbert will thrive with a family that can provide him with structure, keep him engaged with interactive toys, and teach him new skills.

June 19, 2023: Welcome, Herbert!
Is there another corgi in rescue? You bet there is! Say hello to Herbert.
Herbert joins SECR as an owner surrender looking for a home where he can be the king of his castle as an only dog. We’re glad we could provide that for him, and look forward to giving him everything he needs to thrive. First on the agenda is a vet visit to get caught up on routine care and rule out the need for any specialty treatments. An ACL tear from two years ago still causes him to have a slight limp and he has some sensitivity in his hip area that we need to have examined, as well as possible allergies causing itchiness in his ears and around his mouth. We’ll share more about Herbert as we learn more about him, but for now he’s happy to share that he’s a handsome corgi that loves a good sploot! Welcome to SECR, Herbert.
