Sandy

3 years old, adopted

October 8, 2023: Congratulations, Sandy!

Weekends with an adoption to celebrate are always better weekends, and today we’re throwing our paws in the air for Sandy!

This sweet girl came to SECR in May looking for a child-free home (like many herding dogs, young children cause Sandy to be anxious and reactive), and it didn’t take long before she began to thrive with her new foster Dad and corgi foster brother in her corner. Sandy got on a healthy diet, shed a few pounds, got caught up on routine care and a dental, and had all the fun a corgi should have with romps and zoomies with her doggy friends at home and at the dog park and all the love and cuddles she could hope for from her foster family.

Sandy just sailed through her trial adoption and now officially has a new forever family to call her own. Congratulations, Sandy and family! We’re so excited for you and wish you many happy, frappy years ahead!

August 8, 2023: Sandy is looking for her forever home!

Sandy is a young, active, and energetic girl. She craves affection and needs a central role in her family. She wants to bond with her humans and thrives when she has another dog to interact and play with. Large dogs bring out her herding drive so she’d do best living with a dog her size or smaller. (She’s connected especially well with her corgi foster brother.) Sandy needs a family without small children that can devote time to loving her, keeping her active, and staying on track with a healthy diet and exercise.

Do you think you’re a match for Sandy? Check out her album on Facebook to learn more about her and then head back to the adoption page on our website to get information about the adoption requirements and adoption process and to submit an application. Sandy’s adoption fee is $600.

May 28, 2023: Welcome, Sandy!

Long weekends give us extra time to introduce short dogs. Say hello to our newest newbie, Sandy!

Sandy comes to SECR as an owner surrender due to anxiety around and aggression toward a young child in her previous household. As low-riding herders many corgis feel uneasy around young children, and her family made the difficult decision to surrender Sandy to rescue so she could thrive in a child-free home. We’re happy to have this cutie with us and are excited to report that she’s settling in well to her new foster home with a corgi foster brother she already seems to love.

We’ll be getting Sandy caught up on some vet care and onto a healthy diet and exercise plan so she can shed a few pounds and reach a more optimal corgi weight. In the meantime, she’s also just having fun living the good corgi life with her foster brother, Marty, by her side. This girl doesn’t seem to ever say no to zoomies or a silly chase and romp session, and we’re so happy to see her happy.

Stay tuned for updates about Sandy!
