Carys

6 years old, adopted by foster

February 20, 2024: Congratulations, Carys!

Throw your paws in the air for Carys, who’s finally celebrating adoption today!

Carys’s journey in rescue has been a long one. She and her sister joined us back in May 2022 as former breeding dogs that failed to produce puppies. Both needed their share of TLC – routine healthcare as well as spays, a dental, and much-needed weight gain. But, while Carys’s sister progressed and was adopted quickly, Carys needed some more specialized attention to tackle her anxiety issues and come out of her shell. Lucky for Carys, we found the perfect-for-her foster home with corgi-experienced parents that were ready and willing to put in all the time she needed. They worked with her on socialization and training, boosted her trust and confidence, and today officially became her forever family.

Congratulations, Carys! We’re so glad we found the right match for you and wish you and your parents a long and happy forever together.

September 24, 2023: Welcome Back, Carys!

SECR is currently closed for intake while we work to expand our foster pool and meet the critical healthcare needs of rescue dogs already in foster care with us. But, once you’re a part of the SECR family, we save your place in it forever. That doesn’t change.

After a long search for the right forever home, our girl Carys recently left the nest for a trial adoption. But, we soon learned that she wasn’t quite ready for her forever, still needing some work to combat anxiety and stick to a healthy diet. She’s back in our care now with a wonderful new foster family that’s dedicated to seeing Carys through every hurdle and helping her understand that she doesn’t have to worry so much – she’ll always be loved and cared for.

We recently shared a video of Carys on a jaunt through her new neighborhood and are happy to report that she’s slowly but surely settling in and finding her place in her new foster home. Welcome back, Carys! We love you.

June 4, 2023: Adopt Carys!

It’s International Corgi Day, and what better way to celebrate than with adoption? Our girl Carys is officially looking for the perfect-for-her forever home where she can be the queen of her castle.

Think you and Carys are a good match? Check out the rest of her album and head to our website to submit an application. As with all SECR rescue dogs, Carys’s placement decision will be made based on the best fit for her individual needs.

May 29, 2022: Welcome Carys!

If you’re scrolling through our page this long weekend and feel like you’re seeing double, you may be… kind of.

Say hello to Carys. She’s one of two 5-year-old sable sisters to join the SECR family, coming to us as a breeder surrender for failing to produce puppies. Carys and her sister have just received their initial vaccines and, having tested negative for heartworm, are now on monthly prevention for that as well as fleas and ticks. They are both underweight and have bad teeth for their age. Each of the girl’s fosters will be focusing on getting them on a healthy diet and a dental and spay is in both their futures. We also look forward to seeing Carys and her sister come out of their shells as they begin to settle in to their new and better lives. They are both sweet and friendly but timid, so some proper socialization will be in order too.

Welcome to the SECR family, Carys!

**Carys is new to rescue and is not available for adoption at this time.
