Reba

6 years old, adopted by foster

September 20, 2024: Congratulations, Reba!

Reba has had quite the journey in rescue, coming to SECR as a former breeding Mom with a variety of immediate health issues to address and a major medical scare that, just over a month ago caused all of us to rally to provide emergency care and investigate the cause of a life-threatening internal bleed.

Reba has completed all of her testing for blood-related disorders, all of which have come back clear, so we may never know the exact cause of August’s health scare. What we do know, however, is that Reba had the best-for-her foster Mom to see her through emergency treatment, testing, and every step of recovery. Today, we’re thrilled to announce that Reba’s foster Mom has officially become her Forever Mom and these two will be sticking together through thick and thin for years to come!

Congratulations, Reba and Mom. We’re so happy to have brought you together and wish you the longest, happiest, forever together!

August 11, 2024: Reba needs your help

Friends, we have an emergency. Please help! Little Reba had to be rushed to the emergency vet. She was lethargic, not eating, and has bleeding from an unknown source. Her spay was a few days ago so the vets are not sure what is causing this. She may have von Willebrand disease or another bleeding disorder.

Our bank account is way down due to recent veterinary expenses. Please donate if you can by visiting our Donation Page.

July 1, 2024: Welcome, Reba!

Kicking off July as newbie #2 of 3 is Reba!

Reba is another adult, former breeding dog, we took into rescue over the weekend via a rural shelter. Like her friend Bonnie, Reba comes to us with a UTI. She also has a skin growth that is being treated with antibiotics, and will be get follow-up care for each of these conditions as well as routine care and a spay soon. Reba also needs to learn about life beyond breeding and will be working with her foster family on the basics: potty training, leash walking, and simply adjusting to life at home as a family pet.

Stay tuned for updates about Reba as we learn more about her. She is new to rescue and not yet ready for adoption.
