Ava

12 years old, adopted by foster

June 26, 2025: Congratulations, Ava!

Ava’s been waiting a while to make her new forever official, and today we’re thrilled to announce that she’s finally gotten her wish. After a lot of patience and ongoing medical care, Ava has reached a stable enough condition to graduate from SECR foster to adoptee. Lucky for her (and us), she doesn’t have to go anywhere because her devoted fosters have decided to make her a permanent member of the family.

Congratulations, Ava! These are the kind of happy endings we love to celebrate.

September 17, 2023: Welcome back, Ava!

Once a dog comes into rescue, they have a home with us forever – even when we’re otherwise closed for intake. Meet Ava.

Ava is a now senior girl that was adopted from us about 6 years ago. She’s come back to us due to new issues with aggression toward smaller dogs in the household, some health issues requiring diligent medical care, and a change in her family’s circumstances that is preventing them from giving Ava the attention she needs. We’ve placed Ava with a new foster family where she can find comfort in being the only pet in the home, and addressing her medical issues is at the top of our list of priorities. We’re working with our vet to address Ava’s issues with high blood pressure and persistent UTIs and bladder issues, as well as to heal some scabbing from previous wounds. Ava is a sweet girl who’s been through quite a bit lately, so her foster family is also doing the best they can to shower Ava with love and help her relax.

Situations like these are always hard, but we’re glad we were able to find the right placement for Ava so we could welcome her back into rescue with open paws and give her everything she needs to thrive.
