**All applicants must be 21 or older and live within the Carolinas or Georgia. Submitting an adoption application is the first step in the process to adopt ANY SECR rescue dog. SECR’s primary commitment is to the rescue dogs in our care, and it is our mission to find the right home for every dog, not the right dog for every home.
Applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis to find the best fit for each available rescue dog, and our admin team will follow up with qualified applicants after applications are fully processed.

Our boy Mayo just celebrated his 4th birthday, and we’re looking to you to help us give him the best possible birthday gift we can – a new foster home!
Mayo is looking for a new family to continue working with him on socialization and training, and has some specific needs so he can thrive and become the best corgi mix he can be! If you’re an adult in the Carolinas or Georgia, have experience with herding dogs and training, no kids or other pets, and time to devote to a dog that needs regular interaction with and guidance from his people, we want to hear from you!

August 9, 2023: Welcome Mayo!
Put your paws together for the new guy! This is Mayo.
Mayo is a corgi mix that joins us after an extended stay in the shelter, and we’re so happy we could give him his freedom and get him into an SECR foster home. The high level of activity, noise, and commotion at shelters can be very difficult for many dogs to handle, and this is the case for Mayo. He comes to us in need of help with pent up anxiety and some fear of meeting new people and other dogs. Mayo’s foster Dad will be working with him to get him used to a set routine, start building confidence, and slowly begin addressing his socialization and training needs. There’s also a vet appointment in Mayo’s near future, where he’ll get caught up on a routine check up and vaccines.
We’ll be sharing more about Mayo and his progress soon, so stay tuned for updates. In the meantime, welcome to the family, sweet boy!
