Congratulations, Remmy !!!

The day he was picked up by his foster parents (he knew he was going to his forever home, even if nobody else did).

We’re a little late in introducing Remmy, mostly because his story unfolded so quickly — and so well— that before we knew it, he was the best kind of ‘fail’.

Remmy came into rescue at 8 years old after a heartbreaking decision by his former family. He had been a cherished part of their lives for years — house-trained, crate-trained, loyal, affectionate — but after a biting incident involving a young child (and a previous bite involving another dog), they knew he needed something they could no longer provide: an adult-only home without other pets. They reached out to SECR with these words:

“We’re devastated and want to do right by Remmy. He deserves a peaceful, adult-only home where he can feel secure and continue to be loved… The idea of knowing he’s safe and loved would bring us some comfort.”

We placed Remmy in a foster home with no kids and no chaos. And from Day 1, he settled right in.

“Very excited and grateful to be fostering this sweet boy — he has brought so much joy to us since we got him on Saturday! I can tell the fostering is already failing because we are in love with this lil stumpy boy. Indeed, he has stolen our hearts. ”

There were a few nerves at first, but soon came zoomies, cuddles, daily walks to help with weight loss, the comfort of a routine. He became a regular at with his foster dad and colleagues — earning the unofficial title of “surgery resident support dog”

“Crazy to think this lil man has only been with us for three weeks — feels like a lifetime of love.”

And just like that — Remmy had found his forever.
