Congratulations Maddie !!!
Maddie was surrendered to a small county shelter for aggression/biting. After a 10-day bite hold, the shelter had to make some hard decisions. It was a Friday; they were over capacity and had to make space.
Thankfully, the shelter staff reached out for help. They had seen nothing but a young, playful girl. Southeast Corgi Rescue put out a 911, and our volunteers jumped into action to get her safe!
Corgis are herding dogs. Young corgis will nip unless they are taught not to (and they still may sometimes). They are small and cute, but need training, guidance, a job, and patience.
We got Maddie in with an experienced foster, and got her caught up on vaccines and had her spayed.
Her fosters reported that she was a delight, and just a happy, active. normal young corgi girl that needed some exercise and fun! She is also very smart and was very receptive to basic obedience training.
Maddie did not need to stay long in foster and we soon placed her with someone who had been already approved on our adoption list.
A great way to adopt from us is to complete an adoption application in advance, so we can put you on our approved waitlist, where you can stay for up to a year for the right match. An even better way is to become a foster, as fosters get first right to adopt their own foster dogs!
