Nessa

Senior Corgi mix, Rainbow Bridge

March 16, 2025: Rest in Peace, Nessa

It always hurts to say goodbye to one of our own, and today we’re heartbroken to share news of the loss of our beloved Nessa. This sweet senior girl came to us in 2020 in desperate need of help and a chance at a happy forever, and for five years we gave her that thanks to the love and devotion of her dedicated forever foster family. Nessa left us late last week after a prolonged health battle, but she’ll always be a symbol of what it truly means to rescue and will have a permanent place in all our hearts.

What follows is a tribute from Nessa’s Mom and Dad:

About 5 years ago, Nessa was found wandering the highway with the largest bladder stone the vet had ever seen. She was heartworm positive and got bit by a copperhead snake on her road to recovery. But you would never know what she had been through. Nessa never growled or barked. She was never mean to another dog or human. She had the gentlest soul. Nessa didn’t say much but her sweet eyes always told us what she wanted (usually food). Nessa got to live out the last 5 years of her life full of love. As she slowed down, she never stopped following us around or looking so sweet with her big doe eyes. We hope that she’s running free now, eating all the food in the world, and soaking up more love.

Welcome Nessa to SECR!

A few weeks ago, SECR was notified of a lost Corgi mix wandering the highway and in need of rescue. The Good Samaritan that found her transported her to our vet and with fundraising help from all our supporters were able to get this sweet girl the help she needs. We’d like to introduce you to Nessa, who has officially joined our rescue and is in a loving foster home. She’s had a difficult few weeks – filled with surgery to remove a large bladder stone and care for a skin condition. We also have her on medication that is the first step to treating her for heart worms. Nessa is another example of why we do what we do, and we are happy to have been able to save her life and give her the love and care she needs. Nessa hasn’t been with us long, but we can already tell she’s a kind-hearted soul who’s eager to give back every ounce of love she receives. We’ll keep you posted on this sweet girl as we learn more about her!
