Update: Remy died last night. He was only 8 years old. Once he settled into the safety and routine of his foster home, he was always smiling. Always happy. Always wagging his tail. Always. You can see how the tip is blurred in this photo and he’s giving you a little sideways grin.
His foster is beyond heartbroken, and we are angry for her and for Remy, that this happened. He died of complications from his heartworm infestation. Heartworm kills. And it is completely and easily PREVENTABLE. If only his previous owners had known or cared enough.
Meet Remy. This little old guy was surrendered by his owners to a local shelter. He is heartworm positive and had bloody urine. Our volunteer rescued him today and he was so happy to be out of the shelter. He is currently at our vet’s office where he will be getting a thorough evaluation and will be starting heartworm treatment. We will then be placing him in a foster home. Remy is friendy to cats and dogs, and very sweet with people. Please send him your good thoughts.
