Lexi

5 years old, adopted by fosters

April 29, 2022: Congratulations, Lexi!

When dogs join the SECR family, they can rest easy knowing that all of us will do the best we can to get them on track to a good corgi life and help them find the perfect-for-them forever family. Today, our girl Lexi becomes the latest rescue to take comfort in the fact that we always keep our word, officially graduating from foster to adoptee.

Lexi joined us back in December as an owner surrender after biting a small child, so her fosters worked with her on gradual introductions to their dog and others. They also patiently saw Lexi through her socialization needs and separation anxiety, and helped her address some health concerns – joint stiffness and the need for weight loss. It took a while to get Lexi where she needed to be physically and socially but she got there, and in the process she learned that she was with a family who was in it for the long haul.

Lexi has been adopted by her foster family and we couldn’t be happier for them all. Congratulations!!

December 21, 2021: Welcome Lexi!

It’s about that time… The SECR Family is growing again! Say hello to our newest newbie, Lexi!

Lexi joins us as an owner surrender due to nipping a small child. She’ll be in foster with us in a child-free home where she’ll be gradually introduced to her foster siblings. In addition working with Lexi on her socialization, training needs, and separation anxiety, a vet visit will be on the top of our to-do list. She currently has a runny eye and some joint stiffness and has been walking with a limp. Lexi is also overweight so we’ll be getting her on a healthy diet and exercise plan as well as bloodwork at her vet appointment to check for any thyroid issues.

We’ll share more on Lexi as we learn more about her, but in the meantime we’re happy she’s happily adjusting to life in her new foster home.

Welcome to the family, Lexi!
