No New Foster Homes Means No New Rescues

It is heartbreaking as a rescue organization to have to say no to any new dogs needing to come into rescue. Rescuing is what we do and we know that there are many Corgis out there that desperately need our help.

Over the course of 2022, we had over 80 dogs in our care.

Eighty dogs needing new forever homes. But before we can even do that, we need to find each one a temporary home with a caring person that can not only provide food and shelter, but can make a scared and bewildered dog feel safe and secure and loved while we get it evaluated for any behavioral issues and up-to-date on vet care.

So far in 2023, we’ve had over 50 dogs in rescue.

We wish we had 50 volunteer foster homes available for incoming dogs. But we don’t. For years, our dedicated foster families have gone above and beyond taking in multiple rescues and back-to-back rescues. Not only are they getting burned out, most of our volunteers also have their own pets and we are increasingly encountering rescues that need to be the only dog or only pet within a household or have special needs.

We desperately need new foster home volunteers. Especially those without any other pets or can handle dogs with special needs.

Rescuing takes a village. We are grateful for the outpouring of concern and heartfelt well wishes. We are deeply appreciative of any and all donations made to Southeast Corgi Rescue. But the heart and engine of Southeast Corgi Rescue is our volunteer foster homes. We have now reached the point where we can’t rescue any new dogs without the help of new foster volunteers.

PLEASE — If you are a dog lover and you live in NC, SC, or GA and especially if you currently have no pets or can handle dogs with special needs – PLEASE CONSIDER BEING A FOSTER HOME FOR A CORGI IN NEED OF RESCUE. Information on our foster program can be found — HERE.
